ARIA Chart top ten/chart review; 25th September. Post Malone gets his biggest hit in Australia

All I can say about this week is...wow, not only did we get a new debut in the top 10 but plenty of changes up and down the chart, we did lose the inert "Friends" by Justin Bieber and Bloodpop from the top 10 with it dropping to 11 and "...Ready For it" by Taylor Swift made a swift exit from the top from 3 to 17 which made that song the biggest faller of the week. (It actually wasn't a good week for Ms Swift if I am to be honest)

But let's get to our top 10 where the number one for a second week is "Too Good at Goodbyes" by Sam Smith, now I actually think there's a probablility that this song will fall from the number one slot when you see what is lurking below it.

It's closest danger is "New Rules" by Dua Lipa which climbed two places to number 2 this week and still seems to have plenty of traction particularly on radio which is a good sign.

Taylor Swift's former chart topper "Look What You Made Me Do" dropped to number three and somehow I can see this just going into a tailspin down.

Pink regained some of her losses with "What About Us?" rebounding to number 4 after drop to number 5 last week.

The most surprising was the two place climb to number 5 for "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons but I'd suspect that rise is on the back of weaker songs.

At number 6 is "Glorious" by Macklemore and Skylar Grey, it remains at number 6 but it will get a boost off the drop of the album and the fact that Macklemore is performing at this weekend's National Rugby League Grand Final.

"1-800-273-8255" by Logic featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid climbed 3 places to number 7. This could well go top 5 actually.

Then we have a new entry to the chart inside the top 10 and is both these artists biggest hit in Australia, at number 8 it's Post Malone and 21 Savage with "Rockstar". It's the highest debut of the week as well, this song just debuted on the Billboard hot 100 at number 2.

"Dusk til Dawn" by Zayn and Sia fell one place to number nine.

Rounding out the top 10 is Lauv who climbed 3 places to number 10 this week with "I Like Me Better".

The biggest gainer this week was "Feel It Still" by Portugal, The Man which climbed 15 places to number 20. Also a good gain for "Young, Dumb and Broke" by Khalid which climbed 6 places to 14

As for the losses, already mentioned "...Ready for it" by Taylor Swift as being the biggest loser of the week but Vance Joy's "Lay it on Me" lost its momentum completely to drop from 26 to 18.

As for the new entries apart from "Rockstar". we begin at 23 with Niall Horan's ballad "Too Much to Ask", the overstuffed "Homemade Dynamite (remix) by Lorde featuring Khalid, Post Malone and SZA enters at number 40 and "Would You Ever" by Skrillex and Poo Bear at number 42. Outside of the top 100: Fall Out Boy at number 83 with "The Last of the Real Ones", "Heaven" by Ziggy Alberts at 85, Nick Jonas at 88 with "Find You" (Still disappointed with that song if I am to honest) and "Curve" by Gucci Mane feat. The Weekend at number 93.

Dean Lewis re-entered the ARIA top 50 with the excellent "Waves" at number 46.

So given the new entries and the one return what also dropped out. No real surprises there this week with "Fake Magic" by Peking Duk and AlunaGeorge (that song really never gained any traction), "No Promises" by Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato, "Location" by Khalid, former number 4 hit "Symphony" by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson and "Let Me Go" by Hailee Steinfeld feat. Alesso and Watt.

Alright, New Music Friday Review likely to feature Nic Cester (yes that Nic Cester from Jet), Anne-Marie and...Miley Cyrus (she's dropping that album on Friday) so see you for that.
