This week had a whole pile of instability largely triggered due to the death of US rapper XXXtentacion and most of the rest of Kanye West's album 'ye" falling off the chart and with Drake dropping his album on Friday, the instability is likely to continue.
However this instability didn't affect top spot with 5 Seconds of Summer's "Youngblood" remaining at number one for a 5th week due to of course the album drop and the song being pretty strong right across the board.
It's closest competition is Canadian number one "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B at number 2 and really, it's a not a surprise considering it's still doing well right across the board but on an album release week for 5SOS, it was never going to match "Youngblood"
However what it did do was push "Better Now" by Post Malone back to number 3, largely because still doesn't have an official music video and it looks as though Post is going to push "Ball for Me" with Nicki Minaj as a single.
Anne-Marie continues her surprisingly successful 2018 with "2002" shooting up 4 places into the top 5 at number 4.
Ariana Grande jumps two places back to number 5 with "No Tears Left to Cry" but I'd suggest that that climb would be on the back of weaknesses of other songs given "Back to You" by Selena Gomez surprisingly dropped two places to number 6 and "One Kiss" by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa also fell two to number 7.
Look, it will be gone next week (I hope) but XXXtentacion's death meant that "Sad!" re-entered the top ten at number 8.
Unfortunately Amy Shark's "I Said Hi" fell 3 places to number 9...that said this song will get a boost when Shark's album "Love Monster" is released on July 13.
Rounding out the top ten is "Love Lies" by Khalid and Normani after a respectable run in the top ten.
Gains
Probably not surprising given they were given a big promotional boost by playing at the NRL's State of Origin game 1, Peking Duk's "Reprisal" jumped 15 places to jump into the top 20 at number 20.
"Solo" by Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato rose 5 places to 12, it looks likely to be the song to break into the top ten when XXXtentacion exits. (sigh).
"Lucid Dreams" by Juice WRLD jumped 6 places to 14 becaue we need a Post Malone impersonator doing well right now.
"I Wanna Know" by NOTD and Bea Miller rose to 36 off the debut last week
Re-entries
So what else re-entered apart from "Sad!", the other XXXtentacion song was "Changes" at 34.
Calum Scott has the other two of this week's returns with "You are the Reason" at 37 and "Dancing On My Own" at 49,
Losers
With the large amount of new entries, there had to be some big losers and none were bigger than "Youth" by Shawn Mendes and Khalid collapsing to 45 from 29, it was not a good week for Shawn because "In My Blood" also collapsed ten places to 32.
Childish Gambino is on his way to Australia soon but "This is America" headed down ten places to 22,
Noah Kahan's "Hurt Somebody" with Julia Michaels slipped to 25 from 14.
"Friends" by Marshmello and Anne-Marie fell from 28 to 42 and the awful "Meant to Be" by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line is also on the way out having slipped from 39 to 47 (GOOD!) but both these two songs will make the year end list anyway...unfortunately.
Drop Outs.
Let's deal with what will likely end up making the year end list so that's "Freaky Friday" by Lil Dicky and Chris Brown, "These Days" by Rudimental feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen and "IDGAF" by Dua Lipa, all will probably make the year end list which is good for me as I do like both "These Days" and "IDGAF"
Also gone but unlikely to make year end list is "Yikes" by Kanye West, "Nothing to Regret" by Robinson and "Playinwitme" by Kyle and Kehlani.
Debuts last week gone are "Saturday Sun" by Vance Joy, "Fourth Dimension" by Kids See Ghosts and Louis Prima and "I'll Be There' by Jess Glynne.
New Entries
We got a lot of new entries the highest debut went to "Bed" by Nicki Minaj feat. Ariana Grande at 17. Martin Garrix new single with Khalid "Ocean" debuts at 23.
The lesser of the two Kygo songs on the chart, "Born to Be Yours" with Imagine Dragons arrived at 33. (It's okay but its a reason to remember why "Remind Me to Forget" with Miguel is a zillion times better)
"Dance to This" by Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande debuts at 39. I'll explain more soon but I really hope we see the back of this song sooner than later.
Entering at number 41 is the best song of the new arrivals, "Healing Hands" by Conrad Sewell.
Finally..."Jackie Chan" by Tiesto feat, Dzeko, Preme and Post Malone arrives at 44.
So that was the week and well, we might get a relatively quiet chart this Saturday when the charrs are revealed, I hope so given Drake is likely coming to cause a complete chart meltdown soon.

ARIA Top Ten / Chart Review: June 18. Kanye arrives in the top 10 as Selena Gomez breaks into top 5
So this week was weird mainly due to the Kanye album bomb falling back, we got a couple of new songs and a couple of songs that I really hope DO NOT gain more traction than they have already got but we'll get to all that.
Let's begin with our top ten where for a fourth week, "Youngblood" by 5 Seconds of Summer remains at number one and as I said last week, I don't see what is knocking it off given its incredibly dominant on streaming (it's got a massive streaming lead on Spotify).
At least it's keeping "Better Now" by Post Malone at number 2 for yet another week and it's going to overtake "Youngblood" any time soon.
The ever sterile and pandering "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5 and Cardi B climbed 2 places to number 3 yet again largely because they crammed the video with so many big names like Camila Cabello and others, Cardi B remains the best thing about this song and even she isn't on her A-game.
In welcome news, Selena Gomez broke into the top 5 at number 4 with "Back To You" jumping 3 places which is good news because I really still like it a lot.
The song that continues to grow on me drops two places to number 5 is "One Kiss" by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa (Yes, I am over my angst at Calvin Harris dumping his funk era too early).
Amy Shark remains stuck at number 6 with "I Said Hi" while Ariana Grande lost her gains from last week to drop 3 places to number 7 with "No Tears Left to Cry". Grande has a new single called "The Light is Coming" feat. Nicki Minaj due out tomorrow.
Anne Marie's dated "2002" re-enters the top 10 at number 8 having jumped 3 spots.
Khalid and Normani's "Love Lies" drops one place to number 9, it's leaving the top 10 gracefully and yeah, it should make the year end list which I am intensely grateful for!

Gains
It was mostly pretty ordinary to awful news on this front as most of the songs that gained ground aren't good.
The biggest gainer of the week was A.$.A.P Rocky's "Praise the Lord (Da Shine)" feat. Skepta which climbed from 47 to 34.
"Nevermind" by Dennis Lloyd broke into the top 20 jumping 5 places to 19 as did Post Malone impersonator Juice WRLD with "Lucid Dreams" jumping 7 places to 20.
However the worst news of the week is the inanely annoying and juvenile "Solo' by Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato jumped 11 places to 17, this song is almost a certainty to make my top ten worst songs of the year if it makes the ARIA year end list.
Noah Kahan is having his first big hit with "Hurt Somebody" jumping 5 places to 14.
Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" continues hang around and is fact the song that has stuck around longest on the top 50 jumping from 32 to 27
Drake jumped 10 places to 38 with "I'm Upset"...a song I didn't notice had gained a large amount of slots because it's a garbage song and Drake is capable of much better.

One song re-entered the chart this week that being "Somebody" by The Chainsmokers and Drew Love at number 50
Losers
Let's go through all the Kanye West Losers first with "Ghost Town" down to 30 from 22 and "Yikes" being the biggest faller of the week down to 33 from 18
The Weeknd slipped from 15 to 21 with "Call Out My Name" while Ed Sheeran's "Happier" slipped from 26 to 40.
The only other major loser being "IDGAF" by Dua Lipa slipping from 44 to 49 but it is on the way out and seems destined for the year end list anyway.
Drop Outs
Only two significant drop outs of the six that did drop out with 2017's biggest song "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran dropping out after a mammoth 73 weeks on the ARIA chart and Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All the Stars' falling out after 22 weeks.
The rest are Kanye songs from the album bomb with "Wouldn't Leave", Violent Crimes", "Thought about Killing You" and "No Mistakes" all gone.
New Entries
Peking Duk's "Reprisal" is the highest new entry of the week at number 35 (always nice to see an Australian act have the highest new entry of the week)
NOTD and Bea Miller finally enter the top 50 with "I Wanna Know" at number 44.
While Kanye's collaboration with Kid Cudi only netted one entry on the chart with Kids See Ghosts collab with Louis Prima "4th Dimension" entering at 46
Vance Joy enters the chart with the latest single from his album "Saturday Sun" at number 48.
Finally a song that I have been waiting to see arrive on the ARIA singles top 50 is Jess Glynne's "I'll Be There" which has gone number one in the UK but looks set to lose it to "Solo" (unfortunately). "I'll Be There" arrived at number 48 - would really love to see this become a hit as it's a great song.
Seems "Youngblood" has a hold on number one especially now that the 5 Seconds of Summer album has dropped and there maybe some potential for an album bomb from 5SOS but we could see some movement inside the top 5 with "Back to You" gaining plenty of traction but we'll see what happens when ARIA releases the chart for the week starting 25th June on Saturday at 5pm.

ARIA Top Ten/Chart Review 11th June: Kanye album bomb strikes but doesn't affect the top 10
The biggest story this week is: Kanye West and that shouldn't surprise anyone after all I am getting the feeling that Kanye likes the attention being on him however the only place Kanye didn't touch was the top ten which is looking a little like this...
5 Seconds of Summer spend a third week at number one with "Youngblood" and right now it's pretty much dominant across the board, on sales and streaming, it definitely has a lot more time at number one in it.
"Better Now" by Post Malone remains at number 2 despite a slip on sales, it's streaming still pretty good but it wouldn't want to start slipping.
"One Kiss" by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa and "No Tears Left to Cry" by Ariana Grande remain at 3 and 4 respectively. Neither song could bridge the margins of "Better now" so bother stay where they are.
Biggest debut of the week lands at number 5, I wish I could say the song is good because it's "Girls :Like You" by Ad...oops...Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B. Maroon 5 today released a cover of Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" and it's as bad you would imagine it to be.
Amy Shark's "I Said Hi" jumped two places to number 6 as did Selena Gomez's "Back to You" which goes to number 7.
This meant "Love Lies" by Khalid and Normani slipped to number 8 as it looks to be heading out of the top ten rather gracefully.
However I suspect what also contributed to the rises of "I Said Hi" and "Back to You" were the mini collapses of Drake's "Nice For What?' which fell 4 to number 9 and Childish Gambino's 'This is America" down 4 to number 10!

ARIA Top Ten / Chart Review: 4th June. Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendes arrive in top ten
I am pretty happy with things on the ARIA Singles chart right now, the number one is a song I really like, even the top ten is taking a turn for the better even though not every song is great but I'd be naive to expect that the chart is going to be full of all great music.
Speaking of our number one, 5 Seconds of Summer spend a second week at number one with "Youngblood" equally the run of their previous number 1 "She Looks So Perfect" however it looks as though "Youngblood" may well become 5SOS biggest hit as I don't see what will top it right now.
The new New Zealand number one remains at number 2 in Australia which is "Better Now" by Post Malone, needs to pick up sales and is currently being beaten on streaming by "Youngblood"
"One Kiss" by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa has been number one for seven weeks in the United Kingdom and is dominating in Europe however it sits at number 3 in Australia, it does look a contender for number one should "Youngblood" get weaker.
Ariana Grande's new single with Nicki Minaj "The Light is Coming" will arrive on June 20 but in the mean time her lead single "No Tears Left to Cry" returns to the top 5 with a two place jump to number 4
Drake is in at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 with I'm Upset" but his current US number 1 "Nice for What?" remains at number 5 in Australia for another week.
Childish Gambino's "This is America" has spawned remakes (Check out "This is Nigeria" by Falz) but it's down 3 to number 6 this week.
"Love Lies" by Khalid and Normani and "I Said Hi" by Amy Shark remain at 7 and 8 respectively. "Love Lies" should be assured of a place on the year end list now.
Selena Gomez's song "Back To You" is the first of two new arrivals in the top 10 having climbed three places to number 9.
"In My Blood" by Shawn Mendes wraps up the top ten with a 7 place climb to number ten courtesy of the release of Mendes third album. Two pretty damn good songs so I am happy about that.
Gains
Biggest gain of the week unsurprisingly went to "Youth" by Shawn Mendes and Khalid which climbed from 34 to 19 on the back of Shawn's album.
"Nevermind" by Dennis Lloyd is also on the move up to 23 from 29.
"Just Friends" by Hayden James and Boy Matthews to 29 from 33 (Good news for Australian music there!)

Juice WRLD has his first Australian top 50 hit with "Lucid Dreams" debuting at 37.
Australian electronica act Rufus Du Sol are also a new arrival on the ARIA singles top 50 chart with "No Place"
That wraps up the week on the charts so next week? A Kanye West album bomb seems a possibiity, plus we could see a top ten debut for Maroon 5 and Cardi B's remix of "Girls Like You". (The video features enough recognisable celebs to make it huge on Youtube) and possibly Drake's new song which debuted outside the top 50.
Speaking of our number one, 5 Seconds of Summer spend a second week at number one with "Youngblood" equally the run of their previous number 1 "She Looks So Perfect" however it looks as though "Youngblood" may well become 5SOS biggest hit as I don't see what will top it right now.
The new New Zealand number one remains at number 2 in Australia which is "Better Now" by Post Malone, needs to pick up sales and is currently being beaten on streaming by "Youngblood"
"One Kiss" by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa has been number one for seven weeks in the United Kingdom and is dominating in Europe however it sits at number 3 in Australia, it does look a contender for number one should "Youngblood" get weaker.
Ariana Grande's new single with Nicki Minaj "The Light is Coming" will arrive on June 20 but in the mean time her lead single "No Tears Left to Cry" returns to the top 5 with a two place jump to number 4
Drake is in at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 with I'm Upset" but his current US number 1 "Nice for What?" remains at number 5 in Australia for another week.
Childish Gambino's "This is America" has spawned remakes (Check out "This is Nigeria" by Falz) but it's down 3 to number 6 this week.
"Love Lies" by Khalid and Normani and "I Said Hi" by Amy Shark remain at 7 and 8 respectively. "Love Lies" should be assured of a place on the year end list now.
Selena Gomez's song "Back To You" is the first of two new arrivals in the top 10 having climbed three places to number 9.
"In My Blood" by Shawn Mendes wraps up the top ten with a 7 place climb to number ten courtesy of the release of Mendes third album. Two pretty damn good songs so I am happy about that.
Gains
Biggest gain of the week unsurprisingly went to "Youth" by Shawn Mendes and Khalid which climbed from 34 to 19 on the back of Shawn's album.
"Nevermind" by Dennis Lloyd is also on the move up to 23 from 29.
"Just Friends" by Hayden James and Boy Matthews to 29 from 33 (Good news for Australian music there!)
Re- Entries
One re-entry this week and it's good news because its a good song returning to the top 50 at number 50 in the form of "Bloom" by Troye Sivan.
Losers
The biggest faller this week was "Freaky Friday" by Lil Dicky and Chris Brown which fell 10 to number 26 presumably because the novelty of the song has worn out (duh1)
"The Middle" by Zedd feat. Maren Morris and Grey is down from 13 to 17.
Then there's three songs whose chart runs are coming close to an end with "These Days" by Rudimental feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen down to 32 from 25 last week, "IDGAF" by Dua Lipa down to 33 from 28 and "Say Something" by Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton down to 49 from 43.
