Just like that..,it changes again and with what is coming down the pipeline I expect the instability to continue because "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X has returned to number one for a fifth week at the top and honestly I didn't expect it to, whether it gets a sixth week at number one is an unknown with "I Don't Care" by Ed Sheeran feat. Justin Bieber back to number two, it is still a very strong player across streaming and radio.
Also strong is "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish which remained strong at number three, its also a contender for a return to number one.
Shawn Mendes is stuck at number four with "If I Can't Have You", I don't see it as being a player for number one though,
Breaking into the top 5 is Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Loved' up two places to number five this week, it's still pretty strong on the digital sales front.
"3 Nights" by Dominic Fike went back to number six as it slowly starts to fade away.
:"SOS" by Avicii and Aloe Blacc went up one place to number seven because its got some pretty good streaming traction.
"Sucker" by Jonas Blue continues to hang around havung gained one place back to number eight, as does "Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee up one place to number nine.
Finally "Talk" by Khalid and Disclosure returns to the top ten at number ten up one place from last week.
Gains
The big surprise was the huge gain for Tones and I's "Johnny Run Away" which went up to 26 from 40 last week but I am fine with it, it's a good song even if it does remind me of Amy Shark.
Losses
Biggest loss of the week put a smile on my face because it was "Earth" by Lil Dicky which fell from 28 to 42 like the piece of awful cringe bloody well should.
"Sweet But Psycho" fell 7 places to number 40, "Paradise" by Bazzi slipped ten places to 47 while "Who Do You Love" by The Chainsmokers featuring 5 Seconds of Summer went from 35 to 46.
Billie Eilish's "Wish You Were Gay" slid from 27 to 36 and "Walk Me Home" by Pink stumbled from 19 to 28.
Drop OutsS
Not much in the way of drop outs with the biggest being Dean Lewis's "7 Minutes".
Also gone are songs that stuck around a lot longer than expected like 'Boy with Luv" by BTS feat. Halsey, "Outta My head" by Khalid and John Mayer and "Swervin'" by A Boogie wit Da Hoodie and 6ix9ine,
"Power is Power" by SZA featuring The Weekend and Travis Scott is also gone. Reallt give the starpower on board, it should have done better.
Finally the last two drop outs are songs that debuted last week with "You Little Beauty" by Fisher and "Carry On" by Kygo and Rita Ora.
New Entries
So the other big story is in our new arivals where Tyler, The Creator somehow landed an album bomb thanks to 'IGOR'. Tyler has the biggest new arrival of the week thanks to "EARFQUAKE" at number 11. Going through the other Tyler, the Creator songs to chart in the top 50, "I Think" at number 30, "Igor's Theme" at number 45 and 'Running out of time" at number 48.
Halsey debuts at number 13 with "Nightmare" (a song that is an absolute nightmare for the ears unfortunately), DJ Khaled has brought SZA on board for a song that actively samples Outkast's 2000s classic "Ms Jackson" entitled "Just Us" which has debuted at numbe 32.
Finally. song that has been huge in the UK for awhile has finally turned up on the Australian charts with 'Piece of Your Heart" by Meduza and Goodboys entering at number 37.
So that wraps up the week, I have no idea what will take the number one going forward but we'll ind that out on Saturday at 5pm AEST.

Charting 1996: 26th May: Tony Rich, La Bouche and Robert Miles into the top ten
So this week was a interesting one to say the least, we've some big changes down in the lower half of the top ten even if the top two remain completely stagnant with "Fastlove" by George Michael at number one for a second week and honestly I don't see what is topping it.

OMC's "How Bizarre" looks closer to stepping down the chart than going back to the top even as it stayed at number two.
Triple X's "X-Files theme (Version Dance" moved up one place to number three because The X-Files are pretty huge right now, it swapped with "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette which went back to number four.
Max-A-Million somehow climbs three places with their cover of "Sexual Healing" to number five, it pushed "Missing" by Everything But the Girl back to number six
A new arrival to the top ten lies at number seven and I am glad it's here with "Nobody Knows" by The Tony Rich Project. It's a terrific song and deserves to be here having climbed five places to reach number seven.
Making a return to the top ten is La Bouche this time with "Sweet Dreams (Ola ola e)" at number eight having climbed three places.
Heck, these new arrivals pushed ?California Love" by 2Pac feat. Dr Dre back three places to number 9.

ARIA Singles top ten/chart review: 20th May. New number one as Lewis Capaldi breaks into top ten
Yeah, it was going to happen from the moment it was released that this song was always going to go to number one given who was recruited on the track, Australia has a new number one with Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's "I Don't Care" and really while digital sales have been good, the streaming for this song hasn't quite been as good, it's been a tad shaky actually.
It pushed the previous number one "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X back to number two and "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish back to number three. Now, both these songs are still pretty strong on streaming and with there apparently being a meme behind the success of "Bad Guy", there's a chance that it could return to number one.
"I Can't have you" by Shawn Mendes remains stuck at nunmber four and whille "3 Nights" by Dominic Fike remains at number 5.
What was the surprise is the sudden 3 place drop for "Me!" by Taylor Swift feat. Brendon Urie, would have thought this song would have had more staying power.

Well, I predicted it last week when I suggested that "How Bizarre" by OMC was looking shaky and low and behold, we've got ourselves a new number one that being "Fastlove" by George Michael, his second number one this year following "Jesus to a Child" earlier this year and really considering the tight groove to "Fastlove", its not a surprise that the song is a number one hit.
"How Bizarre" by OMC got pushed back to number two and is now under pressure from "Ironic" by Alanis Morrisette which rode the fact that "Jagged Little Pill" is at number one in Australia.
One of the biggest movers of the week comes from Triple X's single "The X-Files Theme (Dance version)" which jumped ten places to number four. Now I have no idea if this will hit numher one or not but given the success of the TV show starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who knows?
It pushed "Missing" by Everything But the Girl back to number five, "California Love" by 2pac and Dr Dre back to number 6 and "Father and Son" by Boyzone back to number 7. Expect to see these songs leave the top ten soon.

ARIA singles top ten/chart review; 13th May: Shawn Mendes pondering not having you debuts at four
This week was turbulent to say the least and that't not even accounting for what may come next week when Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's collaboration likely takes the number one spot however the turbulence this week wasn't at number one where "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X remains at the top for a fourth week.
Billie Eilish returned to number two on the back of consistent streaming with "Bad Guy" so much so it pushed "ME!" by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie back to number three and like I said last week, I don't see "ME!" going to number one given the release schedule,
Then we hit the first of two new entries to debut inside the top ten, the first at number four from Canadian singer/song writer Shawn Mendes with "If I Can't Have You", now I expect this song to stick around in the top ten given it's consistent streaming
It resulted in the pushing back of "3 Nights" by Dominic Fike back one place to number five as a result. This song may just start to fall away soon.

Unsurprisingly the week's biggest loser The Game of Thrones song "Power Is Power" by SZA featuring the Weeknd and Travis Scott down 13 to 43 but as for the rest of the chart, well there were a lot of small drops and things but nothing substantial apart from "Swervin'" by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and 6ix9ine tumbled six places to 50, the sooner this crap is gone the better.
Drop Outs
The drop outs are a strange mishmash of album songs, 2018 hits and a song that may well make the year end list.
Lets start with the album tracks that are gone like "All the Good Girls Go to Hell" by Billie Eilisish and "Hurts 2B Human" by Pink.

New Entries

Then we hit the first of two new entries to debut inside the top ten, the first at number four from Canadian singer/song writer Shawn Mendes with "If I Can't Have You", now I expect this song to stick around in the top ten given it's consistent streaming
It resulted in the pushing back of "3 Nights" by Dominic Fike back one place to number five as a result. This song may just start to fall away soon.
Then we hit our second new arrival to the chart and the top ten, "Homicide" by Logic feat. Eminem at number six, unlike the Shawn Mendes song, I don't expect thisS to stay around in the top ten, Logic doesn't have that kind of traction in Australia...not yet anyway.
Much to my surprise "Sucker" by the Jonas Brothers jumped back up one place to number seven most likely because "Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee took a major hit to fall two places to number eight.
"SOS" by Avicii and Aloe Blacc remains steady at number nine while "Talk" by Khalid and Disclosure fell 5 places to number 10. Ow.
Gains
Not a lot of big gains this week, when the biggest is Billie Eilish's "My Strange Addiction" (Honestly songs from that album have stuck around pretty impressively well larely. She's got some staying power) up six places to 39 then it was a slow week overall.
Re-Entries
So for some unexplainable reason, "Better Now" by Post Malone is back at 46 because Post is currently on tour in Australia and apparently did a shoey but there's no discernible reason music quality wise that "Better Now" is back inside the top 50...it's not that good.

Charting 1996: May 12th: Max-A-Million Breaks into the top ten
So this week feels pretty normal to a degree, sure some shifts in the top ten and a song that has come from nowhere and some new music lower down the charts including a hit overseas and a Home and Away star...
Okay, I am getting ahead of myself so let's rip into this top ten where for another week, it's "How Bizzare" by OMC at number one and really, I would think it's only a matter of time before it loses the number one spot as sales slowed which makes it vulnerable to our number two for a second week "Fastlove" by George Michael which is really starting to look as though it could well be a number one hit.
Climbing to number three this week is "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette as good sales continued even despite former album chart topper "Jagged Little Pill" lost the number one on the album chart to The Cranberries new album "To The Faithful departed"
"Missing" by Everything But the Girl and "California Love" by 2Pac feat. Dr Dre got one place jumps to 4 and 5 respectively because "Father and Son" by Boyzone lost all of it's momentum to skid down three places to number 6. It's not the only cover in the top ten, we'll get to that in a moment
3T's "Anything" has found stability at number seven for a second week while The Cranberries got a boost of the back of the number one album with "Salvation" up one place to number 8.

Making me happy is the big gain for "Nobody Knows" which leaped from 46 to 27. A song I really do like a lot, good to see Austtalia starting to catch on.
Bush's "Glycerine" got a nine place to boost to 41.
"Children" by Robert Miles looks like becoming a hit as it goes up from 34 to 21.
Losers
The erratic chart run of "I Want to come over" by Melissa Etheridge has continued as it tumbled down from 30 to 43. Just no consistency for this song whatsoever. Strange.
Former top ten hit "Diggin' On You" by TLC is on its way out down from 29 to 46. Oasis chart topper 'Wonderwall" is also on its way out after a ten place fall to 49 this week.
A song that I thought would be huge is Celine Dion's "Falling into You" which fell hard from 28 to 45 as did "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine which fell from 31 to 50...OUCH!
The Smashing Pumpkins suffered a ten place drop with "1979" down to 42.
After 7 take tumble down 9 places with "Til You Do me Right" at number 35.
A cover taking a hit and thank goodness for it because it's not a good cover is "How Deep Is Your Love" by Take That which tumbled from 14 to 22.

A pretty stereotypical British football song that I doubt we'll see chart in Australia. There's actually several football songs on the British chart this week.
Finally rounding out the top 5 is "Cecilia" by Suggs & Louchie Lou/Michie One which slipped a spot to land at number 5.

It's a second week at the top for Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" and much like the UK chart there was plenty of movement below it with "Bone Thugs-N-Harmony debuting at number two with "Tha Crossroads". I can see the "Tha Crossroads" hitting number one in the US.
It pushed Celine Dion to number three with "Because You Loved Me" and The Tony Rich Project back to number four with "Nobody Knows".

ARIA Singles top ten/Chart review: 6th May. Taylor misses out on number one
So the school of thought I had about Taylor Swift debuting at number one with her new single turned out to be thoroughly misconcieved because there's been a somewhat cooler than expected response to the new song with Brendon Urie and with what's coming the signs for Taylor going number one are starting to seem kind of grim
But as it was, "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X remained at number one for another week but suddenly things are starting to look a little shaky for it as the remix with Billy Ray Cyrus fell away hard this week and with Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber collab being released tomorrow, this could very well be Lil Nas X last week at number one.
So yeah, "ME!" by Taylor Swift feat. Panic! At the Disco's Brendon Urie is the highest debut of the week at number two and yeah, I'm sorry but I don't see this going to number one if you look the streaming figures and the fact Ed Sheerand and Justin Bieber are probably about to release one of the biggest songs of the year so far.
A song that may have a shot at returning to the top spot though is "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish which because of Taylor Swift got pushed back to number three, it's still doing well on streaming and could take number one back if streams continue to fall off for 'Old Town Road".
"Me!" pushed Dominic Fike's still pretty awful "3 Nights" back to number 4 and "Talk" by Khalid and Disclosure back to number 5. Honestly I really hope both these songs are gone sooner rather than later.

UK chart topper Lewis Capaldi rounds out the top ten with "Someone You Loved" at number ten.

So it's most positive news on this front ront this week, while I am not happy that "Earth' rose from 46 to 17 this week to be the biggest gainer. (Seriously, there are songs that send the message about climate change than a song that is covered in way too many bad sex jokes to be taken seriously) but it also meant "Good Lord" by Birds of Tokyo got a good jump from 25 to into the top twenty at 19 and "Mess Her Up" by Amy Shark up four places off the debut last week to number 40 and both of the latter songs are pretty excellent
The album dropping meant Pink's lead single from it "Walk Me Home" is up from 20 to 13.
Losers
The biggest loser this week was George Ezra's "Shotgun" which fell from 35 to 47 this weekend, honestly while I like the song, I think it is time, "Shotgun and also "Youngblood" by 5 Seconds of Summer shifted out.
"Dancing with a Stranger" by Sam Smith and Normani also tumbled hard down to 21 from 12. Ouch. That song will make the year end list so I am not worried about it.
"Waiting" by Kian also took a tumble from 41 to 34...it's one of those songs that may or may not make the year list.
"Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper dropped from 15 to 23 as it finally appears to be on the way out.

Charting 1996: May 5th. Big new entry masks a fairly normal week.
So this week saw plenty of new entries and some interesting things bubbling on the horizon and potentially heading toward the top ten speaking of which let's get to that because it is interesting this week...just not at number one which is held by "How Bizarre" by OMC for another week but right behind it is a new entry for George Michael at number two with "Fastlove".
The arrival of "Fastlove" pushed "Father and Son" by Boyzone back to number three while "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette is now a top 5 hit after it surged up two places to number four (excellent, I really like that song).
"Missing" by Everything But the Girl dropped two places to number five as did "California Love" by 2Pac feat Dr Dre down to number six. 3T also dropped two places to number seven with "Anything" while "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo slipped one place to number eight.
"Salvation" by The Cranberries went up to number nine pushing "Power of a Woman" by Eternal back to number ten.

Michael Jackson is one of the big gainers this week with "They Don't Care About Us" up 13 places to number 20 off the songs debut last week. Also up off the debut last week is "Children" by Robert Miles which went up nine places to 34 and Spacehog's "In the Meantime" up eight places to 40.

Mariah Carey finally has another US number one with "Always Be My Baby" finally hitting the top spot this week, it pushed "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion back to number two after six weeks at number one.
The rest of the top 5 remains unchanged though with "Nobody Knows" by The Tony Rich Project at number three, "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette at number four and Coolio's "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)" at number 5.
So that wraps up the week, I have no idea what's going to happen next, I suspect there's a chance "Fastlove' could take the number one from "How Bizarre" but we'll find out next week.
Domestic Violence is too big to just simply be a mistake, Justin.
This isn't very musical but it involves music stars and as this is serious, I won't be mucking around too much especially as we are dealing with the issue of domestic violence which Justin Bieber has somehow managed to claim on Instagram that Chris Brown only made a mistake when he assaulted Rihanna in 2009 despite Brown's history of violence against women since the Rihanna incident.
Let me make this very clear now, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHOULD NEVER BE REDUCED TO A SIMPLE MISTAKE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS A CRIME THAT COSTS LIVES, RUINS FAMILIES AND DESTROYS COMMUNITIES. IT'S IMPACTS ARE TOO BIG TOO SIMPLY BE A MISTAKE.
So I wrote Justin a little something...I doubt he'll read it but hey, I do have hope.
Dear Justin Bieber,
I am sad that I have to write this letter but it’s a case
where you have so many young fans that are influenced by what you say on social
media be it on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram that I couldn’t let your Instagram
post about Chris Brown slide especially the bit about his assault of Rihanna
being a ‘mistake’.
A mistake is something like burning the food, turning the TV
off at the socket instead of turning off the vacuum cleaner or even wetting
your pants, things that are embarrassing but can be fixed easily enough and you
learn from them however domestic violence is not just simply a ‘mistake’
especially when it has serious and traumatic consequences for the victim who will
likely live with the physical, emotional and mental trauma of that assault for
the REST OF THEIR LIVES if they haven’t been murdered by their abuser.
Domestic violence can also trigger drug and alcohol
addiction, homelessness and not to mention creates an environment of fear
within a family that can have consequences of breaking up a family and
destroying whole communities.
You were saying bullying is not okay, well, bullying is a method abusers use to isolate the victim
Now you know the impact of domestic violence, let’s talk
about your mate Chris Brown and systematically go through his record because
its MORE THAN ONCE that he has been violent toward women. There’s even a
Rolling Stone timeline of his abuse of women which only goes as far as 2016,

Oh and last year, Brown was arrested for assaulting a
photographer in a nightclub in 2017.
Justin, Brown might have a whole load of musical ability but
his record as an abusive human being speaks more than any talent he might have
and really given the women in your life, you should know better than to claim
that committing abusive behaviour is a mistake because its not, domestic
violence costs lives and communities and it makes me sad to see that, even despite being loved by so many teenage girls who will enter (hopefully) loving relationships and being married to a young woman, that you are enabling an abuser like Chris Brown.
Hopefully one day, you’ll understand this, Justin, and re-think your posts praising Chris Brown.
