2000 Sound: 23rd January: Savage Garden seek Affirmation. Len Steals Sunshine in top ten

We've got s much calmer week here as "I Try" by Macy Gray settles in for a second week at number one, its got sales on lock at the moment and looks really comfortable for a stay at number one, mostly because "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" by Eiffel 65 which remained at number two is not really a threat to "I Tty" anymore as its bleeding sales.

It makes "Mascara" by Killing Heidi, which jumped two places to number three, a strong player as it is strong across the board, this will challenge for number one in the weeks ahead, it blew past "Don't Call Me Baby" by Madison Avenue down one place to number four. "Don't Call Me Baby" looks to finally be on its way out thank goodness.

A song that is becoming a surprising huge hit is "Steal My Sunshine' by Len which jumped five places to number 5 this week, this song has some momentum on its side, this will go higher.

All this meant M2M's "Don't Say You Love Me" got pushed back two places to number six this week as momentum from the Pokemon movie dries up for this song.

"Better Off Alone"  by Alice Deejay enjoys a one place rise to number seven pushing past "Will 2K" by Will Smith which dropped two places to number eight and "Waiting for Tonight" by Jennifer Lopez which slipped two places to number nine.

Finally wrapping up the top ten is Bloodhound Gang's "The Bad Touch" which climbed three to number ten as they do it like they do on the Discovery Channel.

Gains

Most of the big gains are for songs that have momentum like "What a Girl Wants" by Christina Aguilera up six to 15 and "S Club Party" by S Club 7 up six to 14.

"Everywhere You Go" by Taxiride climbed from 31 to 26, a song I wish I liked more to be quite honest.

However the biggest gain of the week came from Salt 'N' Pea with "The Brick Song Versus Gitty Up" rising ten places to 34

Re- Entry

Just the one re-entry this week and it comes from Moby with "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad" back at 42.

Losers

Ilanda's "Tasty" looks like may well be on its way out as it plunged from 37 to 50 this week while "Formula" by DJ Visage dropped nine places to 48.

Europe's "The Final Countdown 2000" is on it's final countdown on the chart as it plunged 7 places to 47.

The eternal flame on the charts is flickering for Human Nature as their pretty solid cover of  "Eternal Flame" hit 36 this week.

Britney Spears "(You Drive Me) Crazy" got taken away seven places to 23.

New Entries

Savage Garden's new single "Affirmation" is the highest charting debut this week, it enters at 22. William Orbit's "Barber's Adagio for Strings plucked its way in at number 39.

An American hardcore punk band called Amen have an ARIA singles charting song with "Lover" in at 41.

Finally Latino heartthrob Enrique Iglesias has "Rhythm Dvine" in at number 46.
