ARIA Singles top ten/chart review: 20th May. New number one as Lewis Capaldi breaks into top ten

Yeah, it was going to happen from the moment it was released that this song was always going to go to number one given who was recruited on the track, Australia has a new number one with Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's "I Don't Care" and really while digital sales have been good, the streaming for this song hasn't quite been as good, it's been a tad shaky actually.

It pushed the previous number one "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X back to number two and "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish back to number three. Now, both these songs are still pretty strong on streaming and with there apparently being a meme behind the success of "Bad Guy", there's a chance that it could return to number one.

"I Can't have you" by Shawn Mendes remains stuck at nunmber four and whille "3 Nights" by Dominic Fike remains at number 5.

What was the surprise is the sudden 3 place drop for "Me!" by Taylor Swift feat. Brendon Urie, would have thought this song would have had more staying power.

Lewis Capaldi has his first top ten hit in Australia with "Someone You Loved" up 5 places to number 7 while "SOS" by Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc is up one place to number 8.

Jonas Brothers continue their slide toward the edge of the top ten with former number one "Sucker" down two places to number 9. Another former number one "Sunflower" by Post Malone feat. Swae Lee slipped two places to number 10.

Gains

We had some big gains this week especially for Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" which went up from 44 to 26 this week while Bazzi's "Paradise" showed Bazzi is going to stick around as it went from 49 to 37.

Amy Shark's late single "Mess Her Up" from her album "Love Monster" has gone from 36 to 29 while "Exit Sign"  by Hilltop Hoods feat Ecca Vandal and Illy is up four to 16.

Losers

Biggest loser of the week is unsurprisingly "Boy with Luv" by BTS feat. Halsey which stumbled down 11 places to 41

A song that is struggling though is "Power is Power" by SZA feat. The Weeknd and Travis Scott is on the verge of losing power completely as it hit 49 down from 43. Bit surprising considering the star power on the track.

"Outta My head" by Khalid and John Mayer is down eight places to 48.

A drop that is making me smile is the awful "Earth" by Lil Dicky which collapsed in on itself to go to 28.

"Homicide" by Logic feat. Eminem fell six places to number 12.

Drop Outs.

So Billie Eilish was the most affected here with both "My Strange Addiction" and "You Should See Me in a Crown" gone.

Also gone is 2018 hit "Better Now" by Post Malone while "Break Up With You Girlfriend" by Ariana Grande exits (it should make the year end list unfortunately)

New Entries

So apart from the big number one debut by Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber, what else debuted this week? Well the other three of the new entries are lower down the chart beginning with the best of the new entries that being "Johnny Run Away" by Tones and I at number 40 (seriously would love to see this song become a hit).

"You Little Beauty" by Fischer enters at 41 and a song from the Detective Pokemon movide soundtrack by Kygo feat. Rita Ora called "Carry On" enters at 45.

So I have no idea what to expect next except maybe some Tyler, the Creator and Halsey. The chart updates at 5pm AEST on Saturday.
