2000 Sound: 13th August. Robbie Williams Rocks DJ while Anastacia's still outta love at number one

Let's rip straight into this week because we have a healthy dose of new arrivals and some interesting moves on the chart this week that don't start right at the very top where Anastacia spends a third week at number one with "I'm Outta Love" and right now this song is a sales juggernaut, it's just ruling everything and getting played extensively on the radio (Hot 30 Countdown LOVES this song).

However it finally has some new competition at number two because rising two places is "Jumpin' Jumpin'" by Destiny's Child as it also has sales momentum but just not enough to challenge "I'm Outta Love" however it was enough to unseat "Freestyler" by Bomfunk MCs which slipped one place to number three.

Vengaboys continue on their surprisingly strong chart run with "Shalala Lala" up one place to number four this week, I'm stunned it's held on to the top 5 however right behind it is "We Will Rock You" by Five and Queen up two places to number five...honestly this cover even with Queen involved isn't good...please...just let's let this one die.

Mercifully though of all that meant "Thong Song" by Sisqo took a well deserved three place plunge to number six as sales fell off this week. Good.

Bon Jovi fell one place to number seven with "It's My Life" and honestly I'm just surprised that it's still here!

Especially as we have a song arriving in the top ten with Aaliyah's "Try Again" up three spots to number eight, this song is huge in the USA right now and yeah it's definitely a solid R'n'B tune.

Then we have Billie Piper's "Day & Night" which got stuck at number nine again this week while "Who the Hell are You?" by Madison Avenue fell two to number ten.

Gains

Honestly not too many major gains this week with the biggest coming for "Shackles (Praise You) by Mary Mary which went up eight to 27 while "Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon is up four places to 28 (Good, I really would like to see this song become a hit)...

Aside from that...well...'Breathless" by The Corrs is up four to 16.

Re Entry

The one re entry is from the Red Hot Chili Peppers with "Californication" back at 44.

Losers

Same deal for the losers this week too with "So Real" by Mandy Moore falling six places to 31 while "Got Beef" by Snoop Dogg Presents Eastsidaz slipped from 28 to 34.

"Take a Look Around" by Limp Bizkit also hit a welcome six place skid to 36 and Christine Anu's increasingly annoying "Sunshine on a Rainy Day" got a four place cold rain shower down to 37.

However the biggest fall was for "Holiday" by Naughty by Nature with signs that the holiday on the chart is about to come to an abrupt end down ten places to 41.

Finally John Farnham's "Trying to Live My Life Without You" took an eight place plunge to 50.

New Entries

We have a long list of new arrivals that are mostly from the United Kingdom strangely enough with the biggest debut of the week belonging to former Take That bad boy Robbie Williams with "Rock DJ" at number eleven..I actually kind of dig this song...don't ask me why.

In at number 26 is a collaboration effort by two Italian DJs/producers Enrico Ferrari and Ciro Sasso along with British vocalist Elroy "Spoonface" Powell and together they come up with a remix of a song recorded by Barry White and Ray Parker Junior in 1976 called "You See the Trouble with Me"

At number 33 is an English/Dutch all girl group rather unimaginatively called Girl Thing" with their debut single called "Last One Standing"...if you aren't seeing the similarities between this and the Spice Girls 1996 hit "Wannabe" then yeah you'd be deaf, only real difference is the members of Girl Thing half rap in the verses...not to mention I think Jodi (?) references Cyndi Lauper.

English electronic band Morcheeba hit the Australian singles chart at number 42 with "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day"...a song perfect for radio to play every couple of hours...lovely...not.

We then have a novelty act also from the USA called Daphne & Celeste with their second single "U.G,L,Y" in at 47...a song that is actually rather hilarious even if rather childish...anyway it's in at 47.

The second last of our new arrivals brings the ROCK to the chart, British band Gomez with their EP called "Machismo" in at 48 and finally the latin flavour is brought by Santana who has teamed up with The Product G&B for "Maria Maria" at 49..it would not surprise me if this song is a hit..its ridiculously catchy.
