2000 Sound: 2nd July. Kylie has the chart spinning around to her newest number one hit.

So if you can't tell already, we are in a pretty rough period for the ARIA singles chart right now, there are some terrible songs on the chart and in a way we kind of got a break from the onslaught of awful at the top because we got a new number one with Kylie Minogue's new single "Spinning Around" debuting at the very top of the chart this week, it's Kylie's fifth number one single in Australia, it comfortably dislodged "Who the Hell Are You" by Madison Avenue which slipped back to number two this week as it bled on sales...finally.

That also means that "Freestyler" by Bomfunk MCs is probably the next likely number one even though it remained at number three this week which is unfortunate because the song still sucks however in good news, there was a two place drop for Sisqo's "Thong Song" which took a well deserved two place dive to number four, I want to see this gone sooner rather than later.

Also in the picture for a shot at number one soon is Anastacia's "I'm Outta Love" despite only a one place gain to number five but this song has momentum on it's side going beyond the next few weeks, hell it blew past "There You Go" by Pink which slipped two places to number six and "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi which tumbled two places to number seven.

"Never Be The Sam Again" by Mel C and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes fell one place to number eight. Toni Braxton's "He Wasn't Man Enough" staged something of a recovery up one place to number nine while on the way out is "Shine" by Vanessa Amorosi down two places to number ten.

Gains

I am not at all impressed that Jessica Simpson got a ten place gain with "I Think I'm in Love With You" to number 20...I mean come on...give your song a distinctive melody rather than jacking "Jack & Diane" hardcore. Sheesh.

Also it's not a good sign that Limp Bizkit got a twenty place gain to 29 with "Take A Look Around"...come on Australia, there's better rock than this that deserves to chart!

Also having a gain off it's debut is "So Real" by Mandy Moore" which rose five to 22 this week. Fine enough and it's the best of the gains this week...I guess..

Re-Entries

Killing Heidi are back at number 30 with "Love Without It" (a song from "Reflector" I really don't like like) while Lo-tel return with "Teenager of the Year" at 37.

Losers

Of the songs that reached the top ten and are on their way out, Chicane's "Don't Give Up" featuring Bryan Adams gave up eleven places to 34 this week while Leah Haywood's "We Think it's Love" plunged from 33 to 50...ouch.

Also taking a nasty drop was "Around the World" by Aqua which hit the skids down from 35 to 47 while "Lonesome" by Unwritten Law looks like not sticking around as it dropped nine to 45 while "Crash and Burn" by Savage Garden fell down eight places to 46.

"Ex-Girlfriend" by No Doubt slipped from 26 to 38 this week as it appears headed for the exit while US hit "Bent" by Matchbox Twenty unfortunately took a hit down to 36 this week as did S Club 7's rather gooey ballad "Two In A Million" which dropped to 33 and Kaylan's "Rock Me All Night" rocked down eight to 28.

New Entries

We got a lot of new arrivals outside of the new number one "Spinning Around" by Kylie Minogue. A collab between American music superstar Whitney Houston and rising Latino heartthrob Enrique Iglesias called "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" has debuted at number 24, this song could steam the charts up a fair bit...wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a hit.

Snoop Dogg is back on the the chart this time presenting The Eastsidaz with a song called "Got Beef". I don't see this one sticking around, sadly for Snoop, but it's in at 27.

A song that is rising on the UK charts is new at 41 in Australia this week, it's called "It Feels So Good" by Sonique while at 43, the Backstreet Boys are back with a new single from their album "Millennium" called "The One"...I'll be shocked if "The One" is a hit just quietly, it's not quite as catchy as some other songs from that album.

So we have our obligatory rock entry this week, this time it's from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers with
"Californication" debuting at 44, I can see this sticking around. RHCP fans are pretty good about making sure Red Hot Chilli Peppers have some longevity on the charts.

Finally Irish family act The Corrs are in at number 48 with "Breathless"
