So I am going to take this week because let's face it, next week is going to be ridiculous with the Ariana Grande album likely to see the entire album debut on the chart plus the new single for Khalid and the Eurovision national final.
But...getting back to this week and yet again Ariana Grande is number one with "7 Rings" and really the only way this will lose number one is if the new single "Break up with your girlfriend, I'm Bored" knocks it off the top spot.
Former chart topper "Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee remains at number two. Now I have really come to like this song a lot if I am being honest but unfortunately I don't see it retaking the number one spot.
Then we have the biggest new arrival of the week and I cannot believe I am writing this. "bury a friend" by Billie Eilish at number three, now this song is holding up impressively well and is even dragging some other Billie Eilish songs back up the chart...we'll get to those in a minute but I can see this song sticking around.
"Wow" by Post Malone remains at number four because streaming still loves it.
The arrival of Billie Eilish's "bury a friend" pushed "Sweet But Psycho" by Ava Max back two places to number five and "Without Me" by Halsey one place to number 6. In the latter's case, good, because it's not a good song.
In good news (at least to me), we finally saw "Dancing With a Stranger" by Sam Smith and Normani jump three places to number 7. It's a terrific song, I really want to see this go top 5.
Can't say the same for "Sicko Mode" by Travis Scott and Drake as that only dropped two places to number eight. Bleurgh.
Sadly, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" by Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus dropped two places to number nine. There's talk of new music from Miley later this year so we'll have to wait and see on that one!
"Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper rounds out the top 10 at number ten having dropped two places. I can see the song actually rebounding
Gains
Honestly, not a whole lot to talk about here with "I'm So Tired" by Lauv and Troye Sivan the biggest gainer of the week up ten places from its debut last week to number 37.
Then there's 'Hope" by The Chainsmokers and Winona Oak which climbed four places to number 36. and "Lie to Me" by 5 Seconds of Summer which broke into the top 40 up from 42 to 38 this week.
I mentioned earlier that Billie Eilish song's were clawing their way back up the chart, this was the case particularly for "Lovely" with Khalid jumping from 43 to 34.
Sadly "3 Nights" by Dominic Fike seems determined to be a hit because it's up from 32 to 26 to annoy the hell out of me.
Finally, "Waiting" by Kian jumped 4 places to 15 because we need Aussies doing well on the charts right now.
Re -Entries
There's one re entry this week and it comes from NOTD feat. Felix Jaehn, Captain Cuts and Georgia Ku's song "So Close" which returned at 47
Losers
The biggest loser this week was Gesaffelstein and The Weekend's "Lost in the Fire" which slipped from 36 to 48. Ouch.
Unsurprisingly Ocean Alley's "Confidence" fell out of the top 10 to number 18 (Not surprising really).
Total non starter "Ruin My Life" by Zara Larsson dropped from 38 to 44.
Unfortunately "1999" by Charli XCX and Troy Sivan slipped six places to 30 and really a lot of 2018 songs lost traction this week with "Be Alright" by Dean Lewis to 23 from 16, "In My Mind" by Dynoro to 39 from 33.
"Middle Child" by J Cole dropped from 15 to 19. This song is becoming a huge hit in the US and for the life of me I don't see it's appeal.
Drop Outs
The drop outs make a lot of sense here, with "Losing it" by Fisher and "I Said Hi" by Amy Shark dropping out given both appeared on the chart due to air play from the Hottest 100 countdown.
We finally lost "Rise" by Jonas Blue feat. Jack and Jack, a song I don't mind but it had it's time on the chart.
Also "Lost in Japan" by Shawn Mendes dropped out which also makes sense because they tacked a shitty Zedd remix to it.
New Entries
So apart from Billie Eilish, there's only two other new entries to mention with Kehlani's new song with Ty olla $ign "Nights Like This" arriving at 41 (it's a pretty good song, check it out)
Wrapping up this week is A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's new single "Look Back At it" entering at number 45.
Next week will be the damage from the ensuing Ariana Grande album bomb that is sure to hit the chart hard but if she only managed four songs off Sweetener....we'll see. Also expecting Khalid and Kate Miller-Heidke new entries. The chart will be revealed at 5pm on Saturday
