ARIA Singles Top Ten/Chart Review: 1st June. Rockstar reigns on Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande

I think this week was slower somewhat predictable if you looked at the numbers. Only two new entries with one of those in the top ten plus some moves up and down the chart that make a lot of sense but anyway let's get to the top ten where much to the consternation of the stans on Twitter, "Rockstar" by DaBaby feat. Roddy Ricch scored a second week at number one due to fantastic streaming (this song is a monster on streaming right now and reasonable sales saw it pretty much look comfortable in hanging onto the number one spot.

This takes us to the new number two which is the new entry from Lady Gaga who brought Ariana Grande along for the ride on "Rain On Me" and it was never really a player for number one because yes while sales were fantastic, streaming while good was nowhere near at "Rockstar" levels but despite this some on Twitter got upset that "Rain On Me" didn't debut at number one like they'd hoped, here's the thing, you can get upset about it but when "Rockstar" outstreamed "Rain On Me" for the majority of last week then there's no reason for the upset and anyway there's probably some chance that "Rain On Me" will go number one with the release of Lady Gaga's album "Chromatica" if streaming picks up a bit.

All of this leaves "Roses" by Saint Jhn in a strange place down one to number three, its still got good streaming and sales but it's not going to go back to number one, nor is "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd which dropped back to number four (it's still the year's biggest hit  so far)

Holding steady at number five is "Say So" by Doja Cat but sales are starting to slow down as is streaming so really it's not going to go higher on the chart now.

What did fall was "Stuck With U" by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber which took a hit down two places to number six, I don't expect this song to stick around given it's apparently for charity that they really haven't pushed too hard in the last two weeks which I find odd to say the least.

"Death Bed" by Powfu feat. Beabadoobee rose one place to number seven on the back of solid sales and streaming for some reason, this song has only gotten worse in the last few weeks.

Although the rise was helped by the two place fall taken by "Savage" by Meghan Thee Stallion down two places to number eight.

:"Supalonely" by BENEE feat Gus Dapperton remains at number nine this week, I expect this to be one song gone from the top ten next week along with "Toosie Slide" by Drake which thankfully took a three place plunge to number ten, looks like Australia are recovering some sense of their musical tastebuds, I was getting worried for awhile.

Gains

Some big gains right across the board this week with the biggest being for "In Your Eyes" by The Weeknd which rose a massive 27 spots to 15 this week courtesy of it getting a remix from Doja Cat.

A song I expect to see in the top ten soon is "Breaking Me" by Topic feat. A7S which climbed 11 spots to number 14.

Re-Entries

So just the one re-entry this week with "Watermelon Sugar" by Harry Styles which re-entered at 19 this week because Styles label decided to make it the next official single from the album rather than "Falling" thus making the top 20 much better (Overall the top 20 is a step up from what it has been in the past few weeks)

Losers

It's my pleasing duty to report that Soundcloud Waifu's "Gooba" has no longevity whatsoever as it fell 9 places this week to 23...good...

Also falling nine was "You Should Be Sad" by Halsey to 29 unfortunately. I still like that song but hey...it's had a better run on the chart than I expected.

Down eight places to to 39 is "The Box" by Roddy Ricch.

Sadly "Righteous" by Juice WRLD seems likely to fall off the chart next week as it tumbled six places to 49.

Drop Outs

Three songs left the chart this week with the biggest probably being "Roxanne" by Arizona Zervas, it's secured it's place on the year end list.

The other two are unfortunately "Physical" by Dua Lipa and "Rushing Back" by Flume and Vera Blue. It will be touch and go as to whether they make the year end list.

New Entries

So apart from "Rain On Me" by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande entering the chart at number two, there was one other new entry this week and it comes at number 34 from a collaboration mixtape from Chris Brown and Young Thug, the song is called "Go Crazy"...(it's not good at all)

Anyway that wraps up a pretty easy week on the chart, we'll have to wait and see on Saturday at 5pm to see if Lady Gaga's "Chromatica" has any impact on the singles chart while there may possibly be a new entry from Tones and I.
