Charting 1996: 9th June: Fastlove returns to number one

Just like that, George Michael went straight back to number one with "Fastlove" and really it's no surpise given strong sales numbers. The song is doing very well across the board.

At number two is "The X-Files Theme" by Triple X as it also has strength across the board due to how big the TV show has gotten in recent weeks, it pushed last week's number one "Until It Sleeps" by Metallica back to number three as it falters, I don't expect to see Metallica hang around in the top ten for too much longer.
r
Steady at number four this week is The Tony Rich Project with "Nobody Knows" while moving into the top five at number five is :Chuldren" by Robert Miles, its quietly becoming huge with another three place gain.

Unfortunately regaining some lost ground is "Sexual healing" by Max-AMillion which jumped one place to number six.

Gina G is one of two new arrivals to the top ten as "Ooh Aah...Just Little Bit" climbed four places to number seven as it continues to ride solid sales.

Former chart toppers OMC have taken a 3 place slide with "How Bizarre" back to number eight while "Ironic" by Alanis Morisette does similar back to number nine.

Rounding out the top ten is the second of the new arrivals to the top ten with Celine Dion's US chart topper "Because You Loved Me" climbing three places to number ten.

Gains

Bush appear set to have a big hit with "Glycerine", its up nine places to 14 but the biggest gainer this week is "Pepper" by the Butthole Surfers which jumped from 42 to 27 this week.

No Doubt have also gained big with "Just A Girl" up 11 places to 35.

Re-Entries

We did get one re-entry this week with Gloria Estefan's "Reach" reutning at number 37

Losers

3T's "Anything" suffered the biggest loss of the week down ten places to 24 but apart form that, a lot of smaller losses across rhe board.

New Entries

The biggest new entry of the week comes from E, Sensual with their weird rap version of the Bee Gees "You Should be Dancing" called "B.G. Tips - You Should be dancing"  at number 43.

TLC are back on the charts with "Creep 96" at number 45 and as their cover of "Father and Son" starts to fall away, Boyzone are back at number 48 with "Love You For a Reason"

So that wraps up the week. Really not that interesting a week apart from the battle for number one but have a feeling that will change soon.
