ARIA Singles Chart/Chart Review: 19th November: Ariana takes number one as Queen arrives in the top 20

Well as it turned out it was only a matter of time as we have a new number one and we have a couple of surprises one of which oddly looks like sticking around awhile.

So let's get to the top ten where we find "Thank U, Next" has taken the number one spot giving Ariana Grande her second number one in Australia this year and of her career. "Thank U. Next" is the 12th single to hit number one in Australia this year.

"Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper remains right behind it at number two and still remains a chance of reaching number one.

"Without Me" by Halsey climbed one place to number three but she needs digital sales to get on board with her however it did push back former chart topper "Shotgun" by George Ezra to number four.

"Happier" by Marshmello and Bastille spends another week at number 5.

What is starting to show signs of being a possible number one is "Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee which jumped one place to number six, it's doing well on streaming so it wouldn't surprise me if it got to the top 2 or 3.

"Eastside" by Benny Blanco feat. Halsey and Khalid was pushed back to number seven but its a song that is starting to fade naturally.

The next two songs stayed where they are that being "Be Alright" by Dean Lewis at number 8 and "Body" by Loud Luxury at number 9.

Billie Eilish returns to the top ten at number 10 with "When the Party's Over" - this song has grown on me a lot in recent weeks.

Gainers

No big surprise that Ariana Grande had the biggest gain of thr week with "Breathin'" up from 49 to 38 given she released the video for that song.

The Freddie Mercury biopic is having an effect on the charts hence we got "Bohemian Rhapsody" up from 26 to breaking into the top 20 at 18 which is to no end awesome!

What isn't awesome is that also breaking into the top 20 is "This Feeling" by The Chainsmokers feat. Kelsea Ballerini which climbed four places to 20.

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan continue to party because "1999" is up five places to 23.

"Sweet But Psycho" by Ava Max has broken into the top 30 at number 28 up from 33.

Unfortunately people think "Mo Bamba" by Sheck Wes is worth anything so it went up to 42. WHY?

Re- Entries

So I mentioned Queen earlier amongst the gainers, well they have two other songs inside the top 50 which I know ARIA say they are new enttries but the fact that they were on a previous incarnation of the pop chart means they are probably re entries with the two song being "Another One Bites the Dust" at 39 (originally peaked at number 5 in 1980) and :"Somebody to Love" at number 50 (originally peaked at 15 in 1976).

Losers

The biggest loser this week is from the A Star is Born soundtrack with "I'll Never Love Again" down to 26 from 19.

"In My Feelings" by Drake slipped to 48 from 41 as he warns all and sundry that if we're not totally sick of him by now, we will be in 2019 because there's another album coming.

Sadly, "Electricity" by Silk City feat. Dua Lipa slipped six places to 40.

"Day Drunk" by Morgan Evans fell to 43 from 36.

Drop outs

Only really upset by the loss of "Suncity" by Khalid feat. Empress of. It was a good song.

However I am delighted that "Sad!" by XXXtentacion is gone however it will unfortunately make year end list as will "Beautiful" by Bazzi feat. Camila Cabello.

Also out is "Fire/Reprisal" by Peking Duk.

New Entries

Speaking of XXXtentacion, he has the heighest new entry this week with "Bad" debuting at 31 while Imagine Dragons "Bad Liar" debuts at 35

That wraps up the week and yeah, I think Ariana will likely get a second week at number one but we'll find out on Saturday afternoon.
