ARIA singles top ten/chart review; 13th May: Shawn Mendes pondering not having you debuts at four

This week was turbulent to say the least and that't not even accounting for what may come next week when Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's collaboration likely takes the number one spot however the turbulence this week wasn't at number one where "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X remains at the top for a fourth week.

Billie Eilish returned to number two on the back of consistent streaming with "Bad Guy" so much so it pushed "ME!" by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie back to number three and like I said last week, I don't see "ME!" going to number one given the release schedule,

Then we hit the first of two new entries to debut inside the top ten, the first at number four from Canadian singer/song writer Shawn Mendes with "If I Can't Have You", now I expect this song to stick around in the top ten given it's consistent streaming

It resulted in the pushing back of "3 Nights" by Dominic Fike back one place to number five as a result. This song may just start to fall away soon.

Then we hit our second new arrival to the chart and the top ten, "Homicide" by Logic feat. Eminem at number six, unlike the Shawn Mendes song, I don't expect thisS to stay around in the top ten, Logic doesn't have that kind of traction in Australia...not yet anyway.

Much to my surprise "Sucker" by the Jonas Brothers jumped back up one place to number seven most likely because "Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee took a major hit to fall two places to number eight.

"SOS" by Avicii and Aloe Blacc remains steady at number nine while "Talk" by Khalid and Disclosure fell 5 places to number 10. Ow.

Gains

Not a lot of big gains this week, when the biggest is Billie Eilish's "My Strange Addiction" (Honestly songs from that album have stuck around pretty impressively well larely. She's got some staying power) up six places to 39 then it was a slow week overall.

Re-Entries

So for some unexplainable reason, "Better Now" by Post Malone is back at 46 because Post is currently on tour in Australia and apparently did a shoey but there's no discernible reason music quality wise that "Better Now" is back inside the top 50...it's not that good.

Losers

Unsurprisingly the week's biggest loser The Game of Thrones song "Power Is Power" by SZA featuring the Weeknd and Travis Scott down 13 to 43 but as for the rest of the chart, well there were a lot of small drops and things but nothing substantial apart from "Swervin'" by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and 6ix9ine tumbled six places to 50, the sooner this crap is gone the better.

Drop Outs

The drop outs are a strange mishmash of album songs, 2018 hits and a song that may well make the year end list.

Lets start with the album tracks that are gone like "All the Good Girls Go to Hell" by Billie Eilisish and "Hurts 2B Human" by Pink.

Then there's 2018 number one hits that left like "Youngblood" by 5 Seconds of Summer and "Shotgun" by George Ezra so the Australian public did act upon my wish last week.

Finally the other song to leave was "Middle Child" by J Cole and let's be honest here, I don't think anyone really cared it was on the chart in the first place.

New Entries

So apart from "If I Can't have You" by Shawn Mendes at number four and "Homicide" by Logic feat. Eminem at number six, we got the UK number one "Vossi Bop" by Stormzy debuting at 42 and Lizzo having a break out year with 2017 song "Treuth Hurts" debuting at 42.

I don't expect three of the four new arrivals to stick around but it certainly would be interesting if they did.

Anyway that wraps up the week and the chart braces for the impact of "I don't Care" by Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber, it's actually not really had a big runaway margins on streaming as some would believe this week but we'll find out on Saturday at 5pm AEST if Bieber and Sheeran have taken number one from Lil Nas X (there's a part of me that hopes they haven't just quietly)

Charting 1996: May 12th: Max-A-Million Breaks into the top ten

So this week feels pretty normal to a degree, sure some shifts in the top ten and a song that has come from nowhere and some new music lower down the charts including a hit overseas and a Home and Away star...

Okay, I am getting ahead of myself so let's rip into this top ten where for another week, it's "How Bizzare" by OMC at number one and really, I would think it's only a matter of time before it loses the number one spot as sales slowed which makes it vulnerable to our number two for a second week "Fastlove" by George Michael which is really starting to look as though it could well be a number one hit.

Climbing to number three this week is "Ironic"  by Alanis Morissette as good sales continued even despite former album chart topper "Jagged Little Pill" lost the number one on the album chart to The Cranberries new album "To The Faithful departed"

"Missing" by Everything But the Girl and "California Love" by 2Pac feat. Dr Dre got one place jumps to 4 and 5 respectively because "Father and Son" by Boyzone lost all of it's momentum to skid down three places to number 6. It's not the only cover in the top ten, we'll get to that in a moment

3T's "Anything" has found stability at number seven for a second week while The Cranberries got a boost of the back of the number one album with "Salvation" up one place to number 8.

"Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo" continued it's descent down the chart down one place to number nine

Now we have a new arrival to the top ten with Max-A-Million's cover of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" jiumping eight places to number ten. Sheesh.

Gains

Triple X had a massive gain this week, up from 35 to 14 with "X-Files Theme (Version Dance), this song could well be in the top ten soon.

Making me happy is the big gain for "Nobody Knows" which leaped from 46 to 27. A song I really do like a lot, good to see Austtalia starting to catch on.

Bush's "Glycerine" got a nine place to boost to 41.

"Children" by Robert Miles looks like becoming a hit as it goes up from 34 to 21.

Losers

The erratic chart run of "I Want to come over" by Melissa Etheridge has continued as it tumbled down from 30 to 43. Just no consistency for this song whatsoever. Strange.

Former top ten hit "Diggin' On You" by TLC is on its way out down from 29 to 46. Oasis chart topper 'Wonderwall" is also on its way out after a ten place fall to 49 this week.

A song that I thought would be huge is Celine Dion's "Falling into You" which fell hard from 28 to 45 as did "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine which fell from 31 to 50...OUCH!

The Smashing Pumpkins suffered a ten place drop with "1979" down to 42.

After 7 take tumble down 9 places with "Til You Do me Right" at number 35.

A cover taking a hit and thank goodness for it because it's not a good cover is "How Deep Is Your Love" by Take That which tumbled from 14 to 22.

Finally "Power of  A Woman" by Eternal dropped eight places to number 18.

New Entries

Our new entries are a weird mish mash of current hits overseas and a rather strange song from a soap star.

But the biggest new entry of the week belongs to Soundgarden with their single "Pretty Noose" in at 24.

Now let's get to Daniel Amalm who you might know as playing the Fletcher-Ross's foster wild child Jack on Channel Seven soap drama 'Home And Away', his song "Classical Gas" has debuted at 31
this week.

It's been a chart topper in the US for six weeks and finally "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion has arrived on the Australia charts at number 34. Now I expect this song to be huge over the next few weeks.

Eternal's follow up single to "Power of A Woman" has hit the chart with "I Am Blessed" making it's grand entrance to the chart number 36.

A member of Wilson Phillips has made her solo debut this week with Chynna Phillips debuting at number 39 with "Naked and Sacred"/

Finally Gina G makes her debut appearance on the chart with "Ooh Ahh...Just a Little Biy" at number 40;

Now let's check out what's happening in the UK and US....

UK Top 5 (The Official Chart Company)

It's a second week at number one for George Michael with "Fastlove" however its not so stable behind him with Gina G up one place to number two with "Ooh Aah...Just a Little Bit" pushing "Return of the Mack" by Mark Morrison back to number three.

Then there's a new entry at number four from the Liverpool Football Club and Boot Room Boyz entittled "Pass & Move (It's The Liverpool Groove)". A pretty stereotypical British football song that I doubt we'll see chart in Australia. There's actually several football songs on the British chart this week.

Finally rounding out the top 5 is "Cecilia" by Suggs & Louchie Lou/Michie One which slipped a spot to land at number 5.

US Top 5 (Billboard Hot 100)

It's a second week at the top for Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" and much like the UK chart there was plenty of movement below it with "Bone Thugs-N-Harmony debuting at number two with "Tha Crossroads". I can see the "Tha Crossroads" hitting number one in the US.

It pushed Celine Dion to number three with "Because You Loved Me" and The Tony Rich Project back to number four with "Nobody Knows".

"Ironic" by Alanis Morissette also suffered a drop to number five.

Debuting at number 47 this week is Spanish Latin group Los Del Rios and this bizarre song called "Macarena" "Macarena" by Los Del Rios

Anyway that wraps up this week's edition of Charting 1996, can OMC keep number one? Find out the answers next week.

ARIA Singles top ten/Chart review: 6th May. Taylor misses out on number one

So the school of thought I had about Taylor Swift debuting at number one with her new single turned out to be thoroughly misconcieved because there's been a somewhat cooler than expected response to the new song with Brendon Urie and with what's coming the signs for Taylor going number one are starting to seem kind of grim

But as it was, "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X remained at number one for another week but suddenly things are starting to look a little shaky for it as the remix with Billy Ray Cyrus fell away hard this week and with Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber collab being released tomorrow, this could very well be Lil Nas X last week at number one.

So yeah, "ME!" by Taylor Swift feat. Panic! At the Disco's Brendon Urie is the highest debut of the week at number two and yeah, I'm sorry but I don't see this going to number one if you look the streaming figures and the fact Ed Sheerand and Justin Bieber are probably about to release one of the biggest songs of the year so far.

A song that may have a shot at returning to the top spot though is "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish which because of Taylor Swift got pushed back to number three, it's still doing well on streaming and could take number one back if streams continue to fall off for 'Old Town Road".

"Me!" pushed Dominic Fike's still pretty awful "3 Nights" back to number 4 and "Talk" by Khalid and Disclosure back to number 5. Honestly I really hope both these songs are gone sooner rather than later.

"Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee continues to have a suprising amount of longevity in remaining at number 6 this week but it could well be vulnerable to likely two top ten debuts next week while Post Malone's second top ten hit 'Wow" also remains at number 7.

It was total collapse for "Sucker" by the Jonas Brothers down four places to number eight while "SOS" by Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc slipped one place to number nine.

UK chart topper Lewis Capaldi rounds out the top ten with "Someone You Loved" at number ten.

Gainers

So it's most positive news on this front ront this week, while I am not happy that "Earth' rose from 46 to 17 this week to be the biggest gainer. (Seriously, there are songs that send the message about climate change than a song that is covered in way too many bad sex jokes to be taken seriously) but it also meant "Good Lord" by Birds of Tokyo got a good jump from 25 to into the top twenty at 19 and "Mess Her Up" by Amy Shark up four places off the debut last week to number 40 and both of the latter songs are pretty excellent

The album dropping meant Pink's lead single from it "Walk Me Home" is up from 20 to 13.

Losers

The biggest loser this week was George Ezra's "Shotgun" which fell from 35 to 47 this weekend, honestly while I like the song, I think it is time, "Shotgun and also "Youngblood" by 5 Seconds of Summer shifted out.

"Dancing with a Stranger" by Sam Smith and Normani also tumbled hard down to 21 from 12. Ouch. That song will make the year end list so I am not worried about it.

"Waiting" by Kian also took a tumble from 41 to 34...it's one of those songs that may or may not make the year list.

"Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper dropped from 15 to 23 as it finally appears to be on the way out.

Drop Outs

Two big drop outs this week but I can't say I am sad to see either of them gone because both suck with them being "Sicko Mode" by Travis Scott and Drake and "Bad Liar' by Imagine Dtagons.

The other two songs out of the top 50 are  are "Kill This Love" by Blackpink and "My Bad" by Khalid

New Entries

So outside of Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie's "ME!" at number two, we had three other new entries this week with the best of those being Game of Thrones collab "Power is Power" by SZA frat. The Weeknd and Travis Scott at number 30.

The US got "Love Me Anyway" by Pink feat. Chris Stapleton to chart but instead Australia decided to give a chart spot to the Pink album title track "Hurts 2 B Human" feat. Khalid in at number 48.

Finally "Paradise" by Bazzi is the last of the new entries at number 50.

So yeah I am expecting another couple of shake ups to the top ten over the next few weeks with Shawn Mendes plus Logic feat. Eminem both releasing songs that will likely debut very high on the ARIA chart when it's released on Saturday at 5pm AEST.

Charting 1996: May 5th. Big new entry masks a fairly normal week.

So this week saw plenty of new entries and some interesting things bubbling on the horizon and potentially heading toward the top ten speaking of which let's get to that because it is interesting this week...just not at number one which is held by "How Bizarre" by OMC for another week but right behind it is a new entry for George Michael at number two with "Fastlove".

The arrival of "Fastlove" pushed "Father and Son" by Boyzone back to number three while "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette is now a top 5 hit after it surged up two places to number four (excellent, I really like that song).

"Missing" by Everything But the Girl dropped two places to number five as did "California Love" by 2Pac feat Dr Dre down to number six. 3T also dropped two places to number seven with "Anything" while "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo slipped one place to number eight.

"Salvation" by The Cranberries went up to number nine pushing "Power of a Woman" by Eternal back to number ten.

Gains

Michael Jackson is one of the big gainers this week with "They Don't Care About Us" up 13 places to number 20 off the songs debut last week. Also up off the debut last week is "Children" by Robert Miles which went up nine places to 34 and Spacehog's "In the Meantime" up eight places to 40.

DJ Darren Briais is up nine places to 22 with "I Feel It" feat. Peewee Ferris,

Losers

Deep Bliue Something's top ten hit "Breakfast At Tiffanys" is on the way out having dropped ten places from 34 to 44 while it was an even bigger drop for former chart topper "Boombastic" by Shaggy which dropped from 27 to 42.

Speaking of former chart toppers, "Wonderwall" by Oasis dropped eleven places from 28 to 39, Ouch.

Just when it looked like it had some momentum, "Got it Goin' On" by Human Nature dropped from 19 to 25 while "Peaches" by the Presidents of the United States slipped hard from 15 to 21.

New Entries

George Michael has the biggest new entry of the week with "Fastlove" debuting at number two but outside that? Well, there is Triple X's 'The X-Files Theme" new in at number 35 and "Hello Space Boy" by David Bowie which enters at number 37.

Finally turning up on the Australian charts after being a hit elsewhere around the world is "Nobody Knows" by The Tony Rich Project at number 46 and finally Bush have a new single entering the chart at number 50 called "Glycerine.

Let's check out the US and UK top 5's

UK Singles top 5 (Offical Chart Company)

In the United Kingdom, it's a second week at number one for George Michael with "Fastlove" with Mark Morrison holding on at number two with "Return of the Mack"

It's all steady in the top three with Gina G's "Ooh Ahh...just a little bit" staying at number three however "Cecilia" by Suggs and Louchie Lou/Michie One is up one place to number four.
Finally, rounding out the UK top 5 is a new entry from rock act Blur with "Charmless Man" in at number five.

US Singles top 5 (Billboard Hot 100)

Mariah Carey finally has another US number one with "Always Be My Baby" finally hitting the top spot this week, it pushed "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion back to number two after six weeks at number one.

The rest of the top 5 remains unchanged though with "Nobody Knows" by The Tony Rich Project at number three, "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette at number four and Coolio's "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)" at number 5.

So that wraps up the week, I have no idea what's going to happen next, I suspect there's a chance "Fastlove' could take the number one from "How Bizarre" but we'll find out next week.

Domestic Violence is too big to just simply be a mistake, Justin.

This isn't very musical but it involves music stars and as this is serious, I won't be mucking around too much especially as we are dealing with the issue of domestic violence which Justin Bieber has somehow managed to claim on Instagram that Chris Brown only made a mistake when he assaulted Rihanna in 2009 despite Brown's history of violence against women since the Rihanna incident.

Let me make this very clear now, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHOULD NEVER BE REDUCED TO A SIMPLE MISTAKE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS A CRIME THAT COSTS LIVES, RUINS FAMILIES AND DESTROYS COMMUNITIES. IT'S IMPACTS ARE TOO BIG TOO SIMPLY BE A MISTAKE.

So I wrote Justin a little something...I doubt he'll read it but hey, I do have hope.

Dear Justin Bieber,

I am sad that I have to write this letter but it’s a case where you have so many young fans that are influenced by what you say on social media be it on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram that I couldn’t let your Instagram post about Chris Brown slide especially the bit about his assault of Rihanna being a ‘mistake’.

A mistake is something like burning the food, turning the TV off at the socket instead of turning off the vacuum cleaner or even wetting your pants, things that are embarrassing but can be fixed easily enough and you learn from them however domestic violence is not just simply a ‘mistake’ especially when it has serious and traumatic consequences for the victim who will likely live with the physical, emotional and mental trauma of that assault for the REST OF THEIR LIVES if they haven’t been murdered by their abuser.

Domestic violence can also trigger drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness and not to mention creates an environment of fear within a family that can have consequences of breaking up a family and destroying whole communities.

You were saying bullying is not okay, well, bullying is a method abusers use to isolate the victim

Now you know the impact of domestic violence, let’s talk about your mate Chris Brown and systematically go through his record because its MORE THAN ONCE that he has been violent toward women. There’s even a Rolling Stone timeline of his abuse of women which only goes as far as 2016, here it is for your own perusal: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/timeline-of-chris-browns-history-of-violence-towards-women-103402/club-shove-june-2013-103999/
Oh and last year, Brown was arrested for assaulting a photographer in a nightclub in 2017.

Justin, Brown might have a whole load of musical ability but his record as an abusive human being speaks more than any talent he might have and really given the women in your life, you should know better than to claim that committing abusive behaviour is a mistake because its not, domestic violence costs lives and communities and it makes me sad to see that, even despite being loved by so many teenage girls who will enter (hopefully) loving relationships and being married to a young woman, that you are enabling an abuser like Chris Brown.

Hopefully one day, you’ll understand this, Justin, and re-think your posts praising Chris Brown.

ARIA Singles top ten/Chart Review 29th April: Quiet week as Lil Dicky returns

So let's be honest this week was one of the quietest weeks of the year apart from some minor shifting within the top ten and just two new entries.

Lil Nas X spends a second week at number one and normally I would say that he has a lock on a third week but with Taylor Swift's new song set to likely challenge for number one so it's really turning into a numbers game.

Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" stays where it is at number two as Eilish's album "When We all Fall asleep, where do we go" returned to the top of the ARIA album chart.

Dominic Fike's "3 Nights" climbed two places to number three given some strong streaming, it effectively pushed "Sucker" by the Jonas Brothers back to number four and "Talk" by Khalid and Disclosure back to  number 5.

"Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee regained ground up one place to number 6 switching with Post Malone's other top ten hit "Wow" which went back to number 7.

Arriving in the top ten is Avicii's "SOS" with Aloe Blacc which went up three places to number 8. This song is doing well on sales and looks like it might have traction on streaming. It's one of two songs new to the top ten this week.

"Here with Me" by Marshmello and CHVRCHES remains at number nine.

The second song that is new into the top ten is Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Loved" which umped three places to reach the top ten at number ten.

Gains

The biggest gain of the week belongs to Birds of Tokyo's "Good Lord" which jumped 11 places to 25 this week.

Happy to see "Woke Up Late" by Drax Project feat. Hailee Steinfeld up six places to 23 and "Exit Sign" by Hilltop  Hoods feat. Ecca Vandal and Illy up five places to 22.

"So Am I" by Ava Max has leapt into the top 20, it's up from 22 to 14. I really am not the biggest fan of this song, it does feel like she's tried to copy the "Sweet But Psycho" formula but it didn't quite work.

"Lovely' by Khalid and Billie Eilish is back in the top 40 up from 42 to 37 while Dean Lewis's "Stay Awake" is up 6 places to 40.

Re-Entry

We have one re-entry this week, just a pity it's Imagine Dragons "Bad Liar"  which returned at number 49. Really, Australia?

Losers

The losers are actually not the worst news this week, the biggest being "My Bad" by Khalid which dropped eleven places to 39 while Khalid's  "Outta My Head" with John May slipped 8 places to 29.  and "Better" slipped 7 places  to 27.

"Kill this Love" by Blackpink slipped even further this week down to 43 from 34 while "Boy with Luv" by BTS featuring Halsey dropped out of the top ten down six places to 16.

Billie Eilish's "Wish You Were Gay" slipped 7 places to 21.

Drop Outs

Three songs fell out this week with two songs belonging to Ariana Grande with "Monopoly" feat. Victoria Monet and former number one "Thank U, Next" finally finding the exit.

Also gone is Khalid's "Saturday Nights" (which is disappointing, that song isn't bad)

New Entries

We got two new entries this week with one being pretty good and the other a slice of cringeworthy awful/ The highest debut going to the better song thankfully that being Amy Shark's "Mess Her Up" (I really wished "The Idiot" had of been the single but anyway) debuting at number 44.

Lil Dicky has rounded up some of the biggest names in music like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande for a song that is allegedly said to be trying to send a message about the effects of climate change but crumbles in its attempted message with stupid and unfunny jokes, did we really need a baboons arse joke, Justin? but regardless, "Earth" debuts at number 46.

On that pretty crappy note, that finishes this week's top ten/chart review. We'll see what Taylor Swift's new song does, it does seem like it's on a trajectory toward a top 3 or top 5 debut, the public's reaction to the song has been weird to say the least, also the fact that Taylor is returning so soon after the Reputation era in 2017.

The chart for the week beginning May 6 is out at 5pm on Saturday.

Charting 1996: April 28th. Boyzone go number two

So this week is a bit of a strange one, it feels like not a lot happened but there was actually a fair bit that happened but we'll get to all that a bit later but let's deal with the issue of the top ten first where for a third week and honestly this could be number one for quite awhile with those sales.

Boyzone continue to surprise as they rise from 3 to 2 with "Father and Son". Honestly I am not a fan of this cover at all. Feels very twee but whatever the case, it pushed this year's longest running number two "Missing" by Everything but the Girl. "Missing" is starting to show signs that it might be ready to leave the top ten.

Australia is stil showing it's "California Love" to 2pac feat Dr Dre as "California Love" rose one place to number four.

The surprise for me is 3T's "Anything" climbed into the top 5 jumping one place to number 5.

A song headed perhaps for higher honours is Alanis Morissette's "Ironic" which leapt up two places to number 6, it's got a pretty solid footing right now, it went past "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo which remained stagnant at number seven.

Joan Osborne slipped hard out of the top five down four places to number eight with her former chart topper "One of Us"/

Finally the last two songs stayed put with Eternal's "Power of a Woman" at number 9 and "Salvation" by The Cranberries at number ten

Gains

The big gains this week came from Human Nature who nab their first top 20 single with "Got It Goin' On" up nine to 19 while La Bouche also break into the top twenty as they are up 14 places to number 20 with "Sweet Dreams (Ola Ola e)"

The weird run of Melissa Etheridge's "I Want to come Over" has continued as it's up 9 places to 29.

"Firestarter" by The Prodigy is up ten places off its debut to 30. No surprise considering it was a UK number one, I expect it to be huge here too.

Losers

Most of the big losers are around the lower reaches of the top 50 and mostly all songs that were losing steam anyway like John Farnham's "Have a Little Faith in Us" which slipped 12 places to 37 and "Hey Lover" by LL Cool J which tumbled hard from 29 to 41.

It was also bad news for CDB's "Don't Stop" which seems to have sputtered out to be the biggest loser of the week dropping 14 places to 46. Ouch!

Bon Jovi's "These Days" drops 9 places to 50.

New Entries

We start the new entries with the biggest new song on the chart being an overseas hit already that being Michael Jackson's "They Don't Care About Us" which entes ths week at 33.. It's then back to Regurgitator's new single 'Kong Foo Song" which enters at 36.

A Swiss born Italian musician and DJ called Robert Miles has landed his first hit on the ARIA singles chart with "Children" at number 45.

Candy Girls feat. Sweet Pussy Pauline are back with "Wham Bam" at number 47 and finally, British rock band Spacehog have trotted in at number 48 with "In the Meantime"

Let's head overseas and check out the UK and US top 5.

United Kingdom (Official Charts)

The UK has a brand new number one and unsurprisingly it comes from George Michael with his new single "Fastlove". Watch for it here because I have a feeling this song might be huge.

"Fastlove' pushed "Return of the Mack" by Mark Morrison back to number 2. Gina G's "Ooh Aah...Just a Little bit" remains at number 3.

Manic Street Preachers fell back two places to number 4 with "A Design for Life" while "Cecilia" by Suggs and Louchie Lou/Michie One is up one place to number 5.

USA (Billboard Hot 100)

It's a sixth week at number one for Celine Dion with "Because You Loved Me" but she may well havea challenge to get a seventh week because Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" which stayed at number two next week but appears to be an imminent threat for number one.

"Nobody Knows" by The Tony Rich Project and "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette remain where they are at 3 and 4 respectively.

Coolio's "1, 2, 3. 4 (Sumpin New)" jumped one place to reach the top 5 at number 5.

And that brings an end to Charting 1996 for the week.
